Biography
Nathan D. Shippee, PhD, is a clinical and health care delivery researcher with work focusing on how health care payment and delivery systems can address the complex needs surrounding chronic disease, behavioral health, and social factors. His published works include contributions to patient and health system complexity, innovative uses of administrative data, and patient-centered care and research. Dr. Shippee has taught statistics and research methods for nearly two decades, along with curriculum development and teaching in the areas of learning health systems research; health care quality, safety, and outcomes; and use of administrative data in research.
Dr. Shippee is Co-Director of the Research & Education Core of the Minnesota Learning Health Systems (MN-LHS) training program, and has also served as PI and Director of the CMS-funded Research Data Assistance Center (ResDAC), and. His work has been funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Commonwealth Fund, National Institutes of Health, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, state and county agencies, and multiple health systems.
